Make the most of your group visit

A private guided tour can help make your Group visit to Penshurst Place & Gardens a truly special and memorable one. Our Head Guide is a fully qualified and highly experienced Blue Badge guide - and trains our other wonderful Guides.

Private Guided Tour of the House

Guided tours of the house may take place from 9.30am - 11.00am before the house opens to the public at 12 noon or again from 4pm - 5pm. The minimum group size is 15 people and only Penshurst Place Guides may conduct the tour.

We also offer tours in foreign languages.

Our guided tour normally starts in the private inner courtyard and takes approximately 45 minutes. Visitors are divided into groups of about 25, with one Guide per group. The maximum group size we can accommodate in one day is 110 people.

Do let us know what your group is particularly interested in and we can tailor the tour to suit.

Guided Tours of the Garden

Guided tours of the Garden are available to book during normal opening hours or before the Grounds are open to the public. Minimum group size is 15 people. Garden tours take approximately 75-90 minutes. Prices for garden tours include admission to the House.

A tour with the Head Gardener is also available at an additional cost per group.  Dates and times subject to his availability. See our booking form for more details.

Combined Tours

Combined tours of the House and Gardens may also be arranged. The House tour lasts 30 minutes and the Garden tour 45 minutes. The House tour must start before 11.00 a.m., but the Garden tour may take place at any time during normal opening hours.

We usually suggest that groups have a break between the tours, perhaps visiting the Garden Restaurant or Pantry for coffee or lunch.

Cream Tea and Tour

A guided tour of the house or gardens followed by a cream tea, exclusively for groups. See booking form for offer details.
