Join us for our ‘Sir and Soldier’ season in 2014 to commemorate the WW1 centenary with war themed activities, events and workshops, there is something for everyone.

Most events are included in the admission prices except where stated.
Though we endeavour to run all the events as we have planned, this may be affected by unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions. Penshurst Farmers Market
1st Saturday of every month
9.30am - 12noon
The Times named Penshurst Farmers' Market in its list of top ten markets in the UK, with over 40 stalls offering the best local food and drink. Set in the car park of Penshurst Place, the market is on every month with a special Christmas market in December.
Spy Hunt at Penshurst Place
15th - 23rd February
10.30am - dusk
Pretend to be a WW1 spy and hunt down the missing objects of Penshurst in the Gardens and Adventure Playground with this fun children’s trail.

War Wounds Make-up Workshop
4pm - 6pm
Use professional make-up to create fake wounds of a war soldier and then discover how they were bandaged in WW1. For ages 7+.

Spring Stroll & Lunch
16th March 2014
11am - 2pm
A special two hour Sunday walk led by Penshurst Place & Gardens General Manager. Journey across the beautiful Penshurst Estate and learn about its Tudor history on the way. Followed by a delicious two course roast dinner in the Garden Restaurant. Walking boots and warm clothes are recommended.

The Great Armada Adventure
22nd - 23rd March
12noon - 4pm
Experience life at Penshurst Place as the militia prepares to ward off the Spanish Armada. Skilled costumed characters invite visitors to join them in the Staterooms as they prepare the Penshurst Place household for invasion.
Big Weekend 2014
29th - 30th March
An event for residents of the county of Kent who win tickets to visit via Visit Kent's Big Weekend website. Free house tour each day.
Ticket winners please bring a print out of your tickets to gain admittance. If you have lost your ticket, please bring some photo ID with proof of your name and address and we can check your details on arrival.
12noon - 4pm
Children can treat their Mums to a handmade Mother’s Day poetry card or present her with a hidden Morse code message on a necklace in our Education Room. Plus a special Mother’s Day lunch menu will be available in our Garden Restaurant. Click here for more information.
Easter Holiday Fun
5th - 21st April
Trail 10.30am - dusk
Crafts 12noon - 4pm
Pigeons played an important part in WW1 as they proved to be an extremely reliable way of sending messages. Take part in our Easter carrier pigeon egg trail and reveal the hidden message. Plus visit our Education Room from 12 noon to create your very own carrier pigeon, soldier bonnet or Easter colouring activities.
20th - 21st April
2pm, 2.45pm & 3.30pm
Gather around our medieval buttery and enjoy storytelling from Aardvark Productions. Hear the story of Cher Ami, a WW1 carrier pigeon and her friends.
Weald of Kent Craft & Design Show
3rd - 5th May
9.30am – 5pm
Find unusual handmade crafts for the home and garden not usually found on the high street, with over 200 artists from all over the UK. Organised by ICHF Events. Combined ticket to the Craft Show and Penshurst Place available in advance.
