Armada! Tudor History Week

This annual living history presentation is aimed at school children studying Tudor history and is an informative interactive day outside the classroom.
The presentation focuses on life at different levels of Tudor society giving children a 'real life' history lesson.
This was my first visit and I thought the day was brilliant - inspired me.”
A skilled cast of musicians, actors and actresses recreate colourful characters of the period and involve students in the life of this important household as it prepares for the coming of the Spanish Armada.
Children will step back in time to meet:
The Musician will introduce students to 16th century dance and manners.
A Barber Surgeon has been employed to care for the militia. He talks about his skills and explains the grizzly tools of his trade.
The Bell man who will tell you more about the crimes and punishments of the era.
The Local Militia who muster at Penshurst, training the locals in the use of musket and pike.
The Lady's Maid - she will show children some Elizabethan-style costumes.
A Spanish Prisoner – Find out more about how the Spanish soldiers were treated by the English.
The Kitchen Servant prepares food for the militia and talks about 16th century foods and the diet of the soldiers and sailors.
You can choose a morning or afternoon session, from 10am - 12noon or 1pm - 3pm. You are allocated a place to leave bags and have lunch, there is an adventure playground (ROSPA inspected), Woodland Trail and goody bags can be preordered from our Gift Shop.
