House & Historic Penshurst Church Tour

Through the private gate in the garden walls of Penshurst Place stands the Village’s picturesque medieval church. Begun in the 12th century, it houses the chapel and burial vault of the Sidney family. The church’s outstanding architecture and art bear witness across the centuries to the story of an English village and its most famous family. Tour the House between 9.30am and 11am or at 4pm, and combine with a tour of the church between 10.30am and 4pm.

In the Footsteps of the Tudors with Hever Castle

Visit two historic estates in Kent brought together by the Tudors. Learn more about the history of these two estates and their royal connections with this special joint offer.

First, a tour of Penshurst Place to discover its rich medieval and Tudor history. Find out why the Sidney family, who still own it to this day, were gifted the property in 1552 by Henry VIII’s son, Edward VI. Take time to wander the unique historic Elizabethan Gardens with records dating back to the 14th century. Then travel just a few miles west to visit Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn to which she returned repeatedly during her long courtship with Henry VIII. Enjoy a leisurely visit through the intimate Castle and magnificent grounds.

Spa Town & Country Tour to Royal Tunbridge Wells

In times gone by, visitors to Tunbridge Wells would ride out to Penshurst Place and pay the housekeeper a shilling to visit the State Rooms. Today group visitors can pay a little extra and have a one-hour guided tour of the famous Pantiles in Royal Tunbridge Wells followed by a non-guided visit to the House & Gardens of Penshurst Place. Tours can be arranged for a day and time to suit you. Tours in foreign languages, can be arranged on request. Minimum group size of 20 people applies, however groups of less than 20 can be accommodated at an extra cost.
