Event Support Staff

We're recruiting new Event Support Staff to join our team of Wedding and Event professionals. Your role will be imperative in helping us deliver quality, elegant events befitting our location, ensuring our clients are happy and their weddings and events are as they envisioned.

Job title: Event support staff

Job type: Part Time

Expected start date: 14th May

Schedule:

  • Predominantly Saturdays, with occasional shifts on other days
  • Weekend work necessary
  • Day and night shifts available
  • Mainly working during peak wedding season (May – October)
  • Approximately 40 – 50 hours a month during peak months
  • Excellent rates of pay

Experience:

  • 1 years in a hospitality / events environment (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the event coordinators in the running of weddings
  • Setting up and breaking down event spaces
  • Ensure the security and protection of historical artefacts
  • Moving around furniture and accessories before, during and after events
  • Being a point of contact for event attendees
  • Litter picking
  • Assisting the catering team by clearing glasses and crockery as required

Ideal candidate:

  • Polite and friendly
  • Happy to work as part of a team
  • Happy with some level of manual labour
  • Basic first aid training would be a bonus
  • Own transport due to location and hours (essential)
  • Happy to attend training as necessary

The successful candidate will join our Hospitality department working primarily within the events team supporting the hospitality coordinators to deliver events. You will be working alongside our team of experienced coordinators, as well as expert caterers in a truly historic setting. This role would suit someone looking for experience working within events, for a few shifts a month, who can preferably commit to Saturday night work for much of the summer, however there are some day shifts available too.

Due to hours of work involved we cannot consider anyone under the age of 18 for this position.

Full Time Hospitality Assistant

We are seeking a full time Hospitality Assistant who will join our Hospitality department working primarily in the Porcupine Pantry, a small café located at the main entrance to Penshurst Place and Gardens. This busy café has a large local following and serves as the main catering outlet for the thousands of visitors to the attraction throughout the year. You will be part of a small but friendly team, serving a range of locally made cakes, tea and coffee, scones and snacks, as well as a lunch menu which changes seasonally. As part of your shift, we provide a lunch from our menu, as well as hot drinks.

Details:

Expected start date: ASAP

Schedule:

  • Monday – Sunday
  • Working 5 days out of 7 as part of a rota
  • Weekend work necessary
  • No evening work
  • 40 – 45 hours per week

Experience:

  • 2 years in a catering / hospitality environment (preferred)
  • 1 year in a catering / hospitality environment (essential)
  • 1 year barista trained (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working on the till serving customers
  • Making tea and coffee
  • Serving cake, scones, snacks, lunch
  • Stocking drinks fridges / cake fridges
  • Clearing tables
  • Adhering to food and safety laws and policies
  • Health and safety compliance
  • Cleaning duties around the café and seating areas
  • Possible cashing up / locking up required

Ideal candidate:

  • Basic food and safety knowledge (level 1 or 2 food safety and hygiene certificate preferred)

Part Time Hospitality Assistant

Evening Event Coordinator

We are seeking an Evening Event Coordinator to join our events team and play a vital role in helping us deliver the high quality, elegant events we have a reputation for. Your job as evening event coordinator will involve supervising private functions and weddings from evening until close, being an efficient liaison for the client, and helping out wherever needed before being responsible for closing down and securing the site at the end of an evening. 

 

Job title: Evening Event Hospitality Coordinator

Job type: Part Time

Expected start date: 14th May

 

Schedule:

  • Predominantly Saturday nights, with occasional shifts on other days
  • Weekend work necessary
  • Usual shift approximately 6pm – 2am.
  • Mainly working during peak wedding season (May – October)
  • Approximately 40 – 50 hours a month during peak months
  • Excellent rates of pay

Experience:

  • 2 years in a hospitality / events environment (preferred)
  • 1 year in a hospitality / events environment (essential)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing an evening wedding reception
  • Be the main point of contact on the evening for the wedding party and guests
  • Ensure the security and protection of historical artifacts
  • Overseeing the event support staff
  • Liaising with the catering team, toast master, and various suppliers
  • Clearing down post – event and responsible for locking up

Ideal candidate:

  • Polite and friendly
  • Happy to work as part of a team
  • Basic first aid training would be a bonus
  • Experience running an event
  • Previous catering experience (not essential)
  • Own transport due to location and hours (essential)
  • Happy to attend training as necessary
