Teachers’ Open Evening at Penshurst Place

We would like to invite you to our first ever Teachers’ Open Evening at Penshurst Place on Tuesday 13^th October.

Pop in for a chat with our Learning Team, visit the gardens or explore the house if time allows and see our reimagined Toy Museum.

Enjoy tea/coffee and cake in the Garden Room and find out more about our curriculum-led Education Programme.

Order of Events:

3pm - 4pm | Register and wander the Gardens, House and Toy Museum at your leisure.

Please note the Toy Museum will be open to 6pm, we suggest exploring the House first.

4.15pm | Tea/coffee and refreshments in the Garden Room

4.30pm | Introduction to our programme, followed by a chance to talk to our learning team and see how we can accommodate your learning objectives.

The team will be available until 6pm so feel free to pop in when you can or make an appointment to come and see our facilities at a later date.

In the 1560s Henry Sidney created the first walled design in the Gardens of Penshurst Place as a means to protect the 100s of fruit trees he was to grow there. Though the original walled design may have changed over the centuries, the concept and our history as a fruit-growing Garden remains.

This Autumn join us for our first ever apple weekend and learn more about the over 130 apple trees in the Gardens, enjoy children's crafts and games, apple pressing, tastings and more!

Beware the Bad Apple! Halloween Trail

Daily from 24th October - 1st November

Commonly known as the bitter sweet brothers, Fergus Fang and Frightful Fred are identical twins.However, aside from their looks nothing about them is identical.

Fred is very bitter and always playing hurtful tricks! Fergus is very sweet and never wants to put a foot out of place.....That is until today!

Frightful Fred has played a nasty trick on his brother, changing the shampoo to green hair dye! Fergus Fang wants to get his own back and has decided to create a poison apple potion. Don’t worry this poison apple isn’t quite as deadly as the one you may see in fairy tales but it will give his brother all sorts of interesting symptoms.

Search the Grounds for some unusual ingredients and discover the strange side effects to each ingredient!

Halloween Crafts

Settle in to The Old Coach House this Halloween and create some frighteningly good crafts to take home and decorate ready for the spooky day itself!

Halloween Storytelling

26th - 31st October | Performances at 11.15am, 12noon, 12.45pm, 2.00pm, 2.45pm

The world of poisons and potions will also be brought to life through lively panto-style Halloween storytelling in the suitably spooky setting of the Garden Room. Ever popular and with optional audience participation, the antics of the animated actors provide a fun and 'not too scary' take on Halloween designed for all the family.
